Week 5 Journal

Week 5 Journal

In week 5, we covered wire-framing in detail. We were given two new programs to learn how to use Balsamiq and Adobe XD. Both programs were great took sometime to getting use to. Had momments I wanted just to create a real sitem but watching the videos paper prototypes made since.

Week 5 Captures

Bank of america webiste was laid out and easy to read. It made seaching the website easy and error free. This site would rank great on scales.

Midsouth has room for improvement it just had the way the focus infromation to users that got kind of confusing.

Robins had a great layout, I had no problem seeing what I was clicking on and finding information I was looking for.

Suntrust
Suntrust site was easy to read and flow to but not so easy on the eyes. I'm not a fan of text on images when you want me to click on them.

Wellsfargo site was very easy to read and well structured . They use a menu bar that didnt make it hard to find what you are looking for.

Week 4 Journal

Week 4 Journal

In week 4, we covered more on landing pages, and how to create a poster. We  all knew how to make posters and landing pages ,but this week has provided us with how to do probly and why. It explained how to selcet the right text, where to place the picture. This was a great read to make us more aware when creating.

This weeks captures deal with me looking for graduate programs of many great schools.  It's going to be a diffuclt choice but some websites have made it easier for me the pick and cross some off the list.

Emory's webisite is classic its not hard to find what you are looking for. The webiste landing page does have a lot of reading, I think they can consulate some text and links.

Georgia Tech's website did a good job of highlighting its acchivements and  information. Its eye cathching but if I wasnt that good a computers so iformation would be hard to find.

Mecer website was pretty laid out and links were easy to see. The only problem I found is that some information was buried underneeth many web pages.

The website deisgn takes  some getting use to but once you understand it farily was to use. THis would present a problem to some one with limited computer skiilsk.
The site look great but I don't video backgrounds make a great idea for anysite. It slows down the user and leave much out.

Week 3 Journal

Week 3 Journal
In Week 3, we went over prototype and storyboards mockups. I learned a lot this week, in the past when making websites I would usually build several different versions of sites for a client. Now knowing this technique this could save some time on my end.  This will help give a client a preview of their site a lot earlier.  There were plenty of free and open-sourced application that allows you to make story boards and wireframes for free.

Week 3
This week my reflection was on cell phones because I was looking for a new phone and phone provider.  All website tried to catch your eye as soon as they loaded. This week winner has to be Verizon the site had it all and did it very well.

Sprint website has a clear and clean layout. The different menus are easily identifiable and layouted with enough space between them to prevent users from clicking in error. The only thing I would fix is that strolling main picture or slow it down.  Only cosmetic issues.

Verizon website has a similar layout to sprints which is great because everything is easy to find and easy on the eyes. Verizon did a great job with their main picture/ or ad  it’s a gif that moving but it not distracting like sprints.

AT&T  website is clean and made simple to follow. I think there is too much white space maybe some more shading or color to make the site pop.

Tmobile site is confusing, there is not enough information to get you where you want to go.  Maybe because they have this big picture has the background.

Simple mobile had to be my least favorite of all the mobile site. They have all their content in the right place but the site was not eye-catching.

Week 2 Journal

Week 2 Journal

This week was to prepare us for doing interviews. The main observation that stuck out to me was participant observation. It was all about collecting data and understanding that data.   The other videos made good points on how to ask good questions and how to do more studies.

Week 2 UX Captures

Car sites  for this week since I'm searching for a new vehicle
1. Volkswagon VW.com
The homepage was done very well, upon on opening the site you are greeted we a clear image that is not overdone. The menu bar on the left side works for the site by keeping the focus on the center site.  The flow works overall without being overbearing.  Even the most novice computer user should be able to use the website with no problem.

2.Audiusa.com Audi

Audi has a similar layout to VW, but instead of keeping things simple like Volkswagon they went overboard using a video ad on the main page. The menu bar is small and barely noticeable. I can not see the site being easily be used.

3.Bmw.com
Well by the third website I started noticing a trend amongst all these sites had a similar look and field. The website may have all been designed by the same company. The BMW site was easy to follow and display information and a eye catching way.

4. Lexus.com
Out of all the websites Lexus had to have the worst. The grid was none existent, and infromation was displayed in various fonts and was hard to read. The site needs some touching up I would suggest that they cut back.

5. Cadillac layout was clean and easy to read.   The grid was made with usability in mind the cars and their links have plenty of space between them and make finding information was on the eyes.
